Interesting post.

In a way the object of your anger has grown into an entire exhibition of nice, beautiful places that are about to disappear from climate change; see 100places.com - not exactly travel journalism though. But the Maldives is their spot no 57. I also blogged a bit about these picturesque places of death at climatechange.thinkaboutit.eu !

I wonder how many travel journalists would be out of a job if they were forced to write only about destinations which did not involve flying.

I agree we are indeed experiencing a new low in travel journalism, on Sunday both the the Indi and the Sunday Times printed the same article I thought I'd include a little snippet so that you get the picture
...."Pleasures such as skiing in the Alps and snorkelling on the Great Barrier reef may not be possible in just a few years time. So on behalf of future generations , we should go now. They will be glad we did, and they will want to see our photographs......"
My friends and I found the article so depraved that we did wonder whether it might indeed be a piss take of some sort an ingenious way to confront people with their amoral and selfish behaviour.......who knows!
If you'd like to read the rest of this charming article go to
